Assessment, Evaluation, and Research

Design, conduct, critique, and use methodologies and results to inform practice, and to shape the political and ethical climate.

Effectively articulate, interpret, and apply results of AER reports and studies, including professional literature.​

  • Black Hawk College |Student Success Center Accuracy Daily Reports | These daily reports helped the office better understand how students were using the center daily. I would access check in / out times by students, combined with tutoring subjects and tutors to assess how our center ran best, and when.

  • University of MissouriInvolvement Week 2019 Evaluations | As a graduate assistant for the involvement office, I used the 2018 involvement week's evaluations to make changes to the 2019 events. Then, used the 2019 evaluations to begin planning for the 2020 events. 

​

  • University of Missouri Involvement Ambassador Training Evaluations 2019 | This was the first time the program had decided to use evaluations for training and it served to be a beneficial service as we were able to cut down on information that students already knew, and give them an opportunity to do more hands on learning.

  • Illinois State UniversityResidential Curriculum Assessment Reports | This assessment allowed housing services to check in on students through the help of residential assistants. I was tasked to read through the materials that RA's sent in, to find themes throughout the students and or a students who may have been slipping through the cracks.

 

Design program and learning outcomes that are appropriately clear, specific, and measurable  that are informed by theoretical frameworks and that align with organizational outcomes, goals, and values.

  • University of Missouri | ELPA 9448: College Teaching Teaching Experience | This project allowed me to research a new or upcoming teaching method and discuss it with my fellow students. In this presentation, I used learning objectives, outcomes, and goals to understand if the teaching method was useful or not in our classroom.

Differentiate among assessment, program review, evaluation, planning, and research as well as the methods appropriate to each.

  • University of Missouri | ELPA 9439: Apply Higher Education Research to Practice Article Critiques | Throughout the semester, I focused on a different method of research, (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods), as I critiqued different articles.

Explain the necessity to follow institutional and divisional procedures and policies (e.g., IRB approval, informed consent) with regard to ethical assessment, evaluation, and other research activities.

  • University of Missouri | ELPA 9439: Apply Higher Education Research to Practice Teaching Session | This session was to help our classmates better understand that week's reading materials. This was a 30 - minute presentation discussing research procedures and policies regarding either qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods research.
